Moving To Lambertville, NJ? Information
Lambertville, NJ
Lambertville History
Lambertville was once a thriving factory town, where Jockey shorts and oyster crackers as well as shoes and pottery were manufactured. But today Lambertville "has evolved from a shot-and-a-beer town to a place so infused with art that it now competes for collectors who have long flocked across the river to New Hope, PA," according to a September 30, 2007 article in The New York Times. The article went on to say "there may be no other town in New Jersey that offers as much art in so dense a setting."
Today
In addition to art galleries and artists studios, Lambertville boasts an abundance of antiques dealers, high-end home furnishings stores, attractive fashion boutiques, cute gift shops and an abundance of restaurants, bistros, cafes and bars.
While the town attracts almost as many visitors as its neighboring New Hope, Lambertville is also home to generations of families. While there are no more factories to provide jobs, the town is conveniently located for those who work in Trenton, Princeton and the Route 1 corridor, and with the many companies located north along Route 202.

There is a sprinkling of 20th century condominiums and single family homes, with the 21st century represented by a new townhouse community perched on a hill above town, priced from $500,000-600,000s.
Prices range from low $200,000s to the recent $2+ million sale of a landmark mansion on North Union St. Currently, the rapid price increase of the previous two or three years had spawned a rash of listings - more than 35 in the $350,000 to $450,000 range at the moment - resulting in a drop in prices, though most sellers still saw nice profits, especially those who had owned their homes for a while.
In January, 2009, only one home sold in Lambertville, for $410,000, and in January 2008, none sold. However, in February 2008, one home sold for $414,900, which represents a 1% price decrease in price, compared to January, 2009. Throughout the year between January '09 and January '08, there were 28 home sales the highest priced home sold for $925,000, the lowest priced home sold for $165,000.
