Who Lives in Bucks County?

Posted By: Pam Bertrand In:   General

Do you reeeeally know who lives in Bucks County?

I thought that it would be fun today (with the help of City-Data.com and Wordle) to take a different look at exactly what types of folks make up our beautiful hamlets, townships, towns and cities here in Bucks County. Like 9% of residents are government workers? The average female weighs 151 lbs? And there are 1,532 harvested acres of vegetables in the county? Who knew??

One important note when you look at these "clouds" is that the software doesn't seem to like any "characters" such as the % sign or quotation marks, or even simple commas. So, you will have to interpret the smaller numbers as percentages and the bigger numbers in desp...

How Great Are Bucks County Schools?

Bucks County Schools

Ok, a typical scenario that I often hear is:

"I'm moving to the area and I'm looking for a safe, quiet neighborhood with a great school district for my 2 little ones, what would you suggest?"

Well, how much time do we have here? I could go on and on...

Although this person relocating has given me a few hints as to their priorities, I would still ask a couple more questions just to narrow down the choices a bit.

My first question would be "what's your price range?" And follow-up questions would include "Newer or older home? City center or more rural? What do you consider 'safe'?"

You'd be hard pressed to find any neighborhood in Bucks County that would be considered truly "unsa...

There is certainly something about Bucks County that words just cannot describe.

Call it "old-world", call it "quaint", call it a bunch of other words that conjure up the thoughts of days gone by, but the word that I like to use is "cultured".

Maybe it's our deep-rooted history of English Quaker settlers dating back to the late 1600s when William Penn arrived from England and immediately dubbed our region "Buckingham" because it reminded him so much of his home country. I'm not sure. But, I know having lived in this area my entire life, that there is a "stoic-ness" and sense of pride like no other place that I've experienced when I've traveled outside this regio...

Posted By: Pam Bertrand In:   Homeowner Tax Credit

As part of its plan to stimulate the U.S. housing market and address the economic challenges facing our nation, Congress has passed legislation that grants a tax credit of up to $8,000 to first-time home buyers. Here is more information about how the 2009 First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit can help prospective home buyers become part of the American dream. Breaking news: HUD Secretary Donovan announces that the $8,000 tax credit may be used as a downpayment.

Who Qualifies?

First-time home buyers who purchase homes between January 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009. To qualify as a “first-time home buyer” the purchaser or his/her spouse may not have owned a residence during the three years pr...

There is absolutely no time like the present to jump into the internet world with my very own blog!

Now, I don't claim to be a computer guru or anything, but I think I can figure this thing out... :)

I have so many things that I want to share with people regarding Bucks County (having lived here most of my life!) and I thought that this would be the best platform to do that.

So, here goes................

I plan to inform readers about different aspects of Bucks County from different angles. Both as a local living here, as well as someone who may be thinking about moving here in the future.

It is such a beautiful place to live, and yes of course, I am biased, but when you hear the p...
