Do You Climb or Raft? Ralph Stover "High Rocks" State Park Awaits You
With so many beautiful state parks in Bucks County, today I will just focus on one, the Ralph Stover "High Rocks" State Park which features, not only, amazing sheer rock faces for advanced climbers, but the park also offers excellent whitewater raftingevents throughout the year, hiking, fishing and great family time picnicking.
Just 9 miles from New Hope in Plumstead and Tinicum townships, this popular 45-acre park runs along the beautiful Tohickon Creek (named by the Lenape Indians meaning "Deer Bone Creek").
Originally the site of a gristmill in the late 1700s, the heirs of its owner, Ralph Stover, donated the land over to the State of Pennsylvania in 1931 and the park's facilities were built at that time.
The High Rocks section of the park was donated in 1956 and it's been a popular place for climbers of all levels to scale its walls ever since.
The views at the top are nothing short of spectacular, especially in the fall with the color of the trees in all their glory!
The Whitewater dates have also been set:
These are the dates when the Nockamixon Dam will release its water making for some incredible rides down the creek!
You can follow all of the information and stay up-to-date at the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission Hope you are able to get out there and enjoy this wonderful fall weather...
That's it for this Monday!
Have a great week,
Gail
