A .5% drop in rates is a 5% increase in the amount of house a buyer can afford.

Pre-approvals over 30 days old need to be revisited as they may no longer be valid. Wachovia, Sovereign, Citi & Wells have all tightened their guidelines. Older pre-approvals from those banks must be reviewed.

Bankrates are at 6.125% again this week!
